As Kelly prepares to leave the corporate world after 29 years, I find myself filled with a mixture of excitement, pride, and a touch of trepidation. For nearly three decades, Kelly has dedicated himself to one company—starting right out of college and growing alongside it. The decision to leave behind the steady paycheck, benefits, and familiar routines is not one we took lightly. Yet, despite the nerves, I couldn’t be prouder of him for taking this leap.
Trading Stability for Freedom
For years, Kelly’s job provided a sense of security, complete with reliable income, healthcare, and other benefits. Leaving that stability behind means stepping into a new world where we’re responsible for it all. Navigating the insurance marketplace, paying quarterly estimated taxes, asset depreciation, etc. All the things we largely took for granted when working for someone else. It also means changing our financial mindset, being more intentional with spending, and carefully managing our cash flow as we adjust to our new reality.
Freedom and Flexibility
One of the most exciting parts of this transition is the newfound freedom. We have more time together, more space to be creative, and the ability to shape our business using our values and standards. McAteer Meeting Management is about bringing events to life, cultivating experiences that resonate, and doing it in a way that aligns with who we are. Having Kelly fully onboard as my partner in business and in life makes this journey even more meaningful.
Pride in Taking the Leap
It takes courage to leave a career that has been such a huge part of your life. Kelly’s willingness to step away from the corporate world and embrace the uncertainty of business ownership shows his commitment not just to our business but to a lifestyle that brings us joy and fulfillment. I am beyond proud of him for having the vision and the guts to make this transition.
Looking Ahead
We know there will be challenges along the way, but we also know we’ll face them together. As we step into this new chapter, we’re not just building a business—we’re building a life that aligns with our dreams and goals. I couldn’t be more grateful to have Kelly by my side, bringing his strategic mindset to McAteer Meeting Management and helping us grow in new and exciting ways.
Here’s to embracing the uncertainty, celebrating the freedom, and, most importantly, honoring the courage it takes to take that leap.
Cheers,
Bethany
